Take The Love With You began with the promise of a mum to her dying baby. His incredible strength and courage, his fighting spirit, would be known. He would make a difference in a world he was only able to visit briefly. Gill had no idea how she would honour her promise to Zachary. However, such a promise had to be kept. No matter what.
Joining an email poetry writing course, Gill connected with writer Jim Hall. Unexpectedly, the terrible burden of the death of Zachary flowed onto the page. Here was a safe space where things she was unable to acknowledge, even to herself, could be gently placed. Difficult emotions could be expressed, ordered and processed, without judgement. This revelation was transformative. Gill realised her experience could help others. Creative writing could be used as a tool to support those affected by the death of a child. However, a caring, tender facilitator such as Jim was not just important. It was crucial. And so, the project inspired by Zachary began.
Gill and Jim brought together a group of other bereaved mums with the idea of each being given the opportunity to write. To tell their children's stories. With Jim's caring creative facilitation and the emotional support of each other, Gaynor, Gill, Hayley and Rachel found a space where it was safe to talk and write about the things they had never been able to say out loud. Week by week the writing became braver. The friendships, deeper. These strong and courageous women soon made it clear that their children's voices needed to be heard. Writing for themselves was insufficient. There had to be more. A book.
An anthology of love. Brought to you in a way that is totally accessible. Available at no cost. Never overwhelming. You might read a page, or every single word. We hope there will be something for you.
